Now there were always some scholars, a minority, 
who thought that McLuhan had some 
extraordinary insights and wanted to pursue those 
insights. Not that he had all the final answers, 
that’s not the point. McLuhan is a catalyst. He’s 
not a guy who sets up a system. He is more like 
Humpty Dumpty, who you can’t put it all back 
together again in some coherent fashion. You can 
indeed trace all of McLuhan’s work, that’s what I 
attempt to do, but I think that one can do that.
